After John Lineker left the fight with the North American, “Magic” offered to accept the fight, but “on his terms”. Rivera revealed that he had allowed the fight to take place even at featherweight, as Marlon would not have time to cut his weight to the bantamweight limit, but, according to “El Terror”, not even that made the Brazilian accept the duel.

After Rivera used social media to “accept” the challenge, Marlon said he would only fight “on his own terms”, as the American had refused to face him on two other occasions.
“I apologize to my fans, friends and family. Marlon moraes did not accept the featherweight fight. Those were his “terms”, I accepted and then he withdrew the offer. Let's be clear. After Rivera regretted his refusal to Marlon moraes, John Dodson also gave him a challenge. Former flyweight title challenger, “The Magician” had already asked to face Jimmie rivera on another opportunity and said he is ready to fight at UFC 219, which takes place next Saturday (30). “El Terror” did not respond to Dodson’s offer.
