Colby covington does not hide his desire to fight for the UFC welterweight belt after his victory over Demian Maia No. UFC Sao Paulo. However, the organization does not seem willing to give him a title shot, as they have been offering him a fight with the dangerous Kamaru Usman. According to the Nigerian, the loudmouth is afraid to face him.

For Usman, Covington only wants to face athletes over whom he has a great physical advantage, which would not be the case with him. Kamaru says Colby is only interested in facing older athletes if he can't get a fight with the champion Tyron woodley.
“The UFC offered Colby, and he said no. They tried two weeks later, and Colby said no. They offered for the third time, the fight was supposed to be the main fight of the UFC on January 14th (in St. Louis). That's why it took them so long to announce the main attraction. Colby and I were supposed to headline the card, but he turned it down. Colby wants to face guys who have an athletic and physical advantage. He knows he couldn't do that with me. Covington is scared and running towards older opponents”, accused Usman, in an interview with the North American program The MMA Hour.
The Nigerian is undefeated in the UFC after winning the 21st season of The Ultimate Fighter, representing the Blackzilians academy. Usman has six wins in six UFC fights and is coming off a devastating knockout triumph over Serginho Moraes, at UFC Pittsburgh in September this year. He will put his undefeated record in the organization on the line against Emil Meek at UFC St. Louis, on January 14th.
