“I’ve always been very open with it, you’ll never see me (fighting) at 40 years old. We may be entering my senior year in 2018. And I'm at peace with that. It's time for this guy, Daniel Jr., to take over in sports. I have been competing at a high level since I was 15 years old. I can't do this forever. I'm ready to commit and focus on my boy after a few more fights. I still have some fights to do”, commented DC, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster ESPN.

Cormier returns to the Octagon at UFC 220, January 20th. He will defend his light heavyweight belt against Volkan oezdemir, after regaining the title with the arrest of Jon Jones in anti-doping. “Bones” had knocked out DC at UFC 214, but lost the championship when he fell victim to doping again.
