Overeem rules out retirement: 'I'm already back in the gym'

Dutchman also regretted not fighting for the title after defeat to Francis Ngannou

Before UFC 218, alistair overeem he was one fight away from competing again for the UFC heavyweight belt. However, the Dutchman suffered a stunning knockout at the hands of Francis Ngannou and saw the Cameroonian move ahead of him in the race for the title of Stipe Miocic and the two will face each other at UFC 220, on January 20th. Overeem's defeat was so violent that many fans called for his retirement.

However, “The Reem” declared that he does not intend to hang up his gloves, revealed that he is already back in the gym and regretted not having gotten another opportunity to dethrone Miocic – the two fought at UFC 203 and Overeem almost submitted the champion before being knocked out.

I don't have a favorite (for Miocic x Ngannou), so may the best man win. Oh, and to all the people who are asking for my retirement: I'm sorry, but I'm already back in the gym”, commented the Dutchman via his official Twitter account.

UFC 220 will have, in addition to the duel for the heavyweight title, another fight for the belt: light heavyweight champion again, Daniel Cormier will defend his crown against the Swiss Volkan oezdemir. Four Brazilians will also be in action at the event: Thomas almeida, Alexandre pantoja, Francimar Bodão and Gleison Tibau face, respectively, Rob font, Dustin Ortiz, Islam makhachev e Gian Villante.
