the american Nick Diaz, Strikeforce welterweight champion, would have the opportunity to face the Canadian Georges St Pierre in the main fight of UFC 137, a duel that would be valid for the UFC 77 kg title. But after not attending the press conference promoting the duel, Cesar Gracie's pupil was removed from the show. In his place, the show's organization acted quickly and called Carlos Condit for the duel.
"Nick Diaz lost his opportunity to be welterweight champion. Now is the time Carlos Condit”, stated the president.
According to White, on Tuesday, Diaz missed a flight to Canada, where the press conference was held. This Wednesday, Nick missed two more flights and did not return Dana White's messages. The fighter's attitude left the top hat irritated and he was removed from the show.
“Diaz will find out that he is not in the fight against Georges St-Pierre, maybe if he will call me back,” White stated.
During the press conference, Brazilian Cesar Gracie, head coach Nick Diaz, agreed with the UFC's attitude and apologized to everyone for the situation.
“I apologize and I agree with you 100 percent with what you (Dana White) are doing,” Gracie said.
