“An event will take place in London (my farewell). I would love to fight there. I would love to be part of it to thank the Brits who supported me and have my last fight there. I definitely want my last fight to take place in England. I always wanted my retirement fight to be in England”, he revealed in an interview with the program 'The MMA Hour'.

The fight against Gastelum will be just 21 days after the defeat suffered by Georges St Pierre at UFC 217, held on November 4, in New York (USA), when he lost the under-84kg division belt. According to Bisping, the decision to accept the confrontation was made to erase the image left by his most recent performance.

“It’s time to move on and do something else with my life. That's why I want to fight Kelvin (Gastelum), because I know I can do better than what I did last week (referring to UFC 217). I took this fight just because 'you're only as good as your last fight', and my last fight didn't go according to plan. I feel good, I'm in good shape, I have no injuries, so why not?”, said the Englishman, who concluded by reaffirming that he will end his career at the beginning of next year.

“I was planning for my last fight to be in March (2018). This (fight) wasn't in the plans, so doing an extra one. That wasn't the plan, but circumstances put me in this situation,” he concluded.
