New Ultimate middleweight champion, Georges St Pierre There's a lot to celebrate. In addition to the new title, the Canadian became only the fourth fighter to be champion in two different categories (middleweight and welterweight), after Randy Couture (heavyweight and light heavyweight), B.J. Penn (light and welterweight) and Conor McGregor (feather and light). And GSP admits that UFC 217 last Saturday (4), when he won the belt over Michael Bisping, was the best night of his career.

Through his social networks, St. Pierre gave his first comments after the title, as he was unable to attend the press conference due to having been taken to the hospital – the new champion had to close a cut on his face with stitches. And he ensured that UFC 217 surpassed all his other achievements, such as the record number of title defenses among welterweights (eight) and the victories in rematches against Matt Serra and Matt hugs (the only fighters to defeat the Canadian).
“The atmosphere at Madison Square Garden (site of UFC 217) was surreal. I'm feeling great. Thank you to everyone who made Saturday the best night of my career”, thanked the new champion quickly via Instagram.
In addition to becoming the fourth athlete to have won titles in two categories, GSP also equaled his victim Bisping in the number of victories ranking. Now, the Canadian joins the Englishman with 20 UFC victories. Behind the two are Demian Maia e Donald Cerrone, with 19 victories each.
