Dana White says St. Pierre will unify belt with Whittaker

After the triumphant return to Michael Bisping at UFC 217, Georges St Pierre, former welterweight champion and current owner of the middleweight belt, hinted that he would return to his home category in his next fight. However, UFC president Dana White assured that the Canadian will first unify the title against the current interim middleweight champion, Robert whittaker. Thus, possible superfights against the welterweight champion Tyron woodley, or even a historic duel against Conor McGregor, will have to wait.

In an interview with the international press after the fight, Dana White revealed that GSP had to be transported to a New York hospital to receive stitches for the cuts suffered in the fight with Bisping, but said that his next fight in the UFC will be against Whittaker.

However, Whittaker was injured in the fight and will only be able to return in 2018.
