Before closing its calendar in Brazil in 2017, the UFC is already making plans for next year. And they include a visit to the North of the country, in the first quarter. Ultimate should land in Belém, capital of Pará, and city of the former champion Lyoto Machida, in February, for its first Brazilian event in 2018. The information is from the Combate channel website.

The venue for the show should be the Ginásio Mangueirinho, which opened last year and holds up to 12 thousand people. The expectation is that the event card will be in the Fight Night format, which normally features fights that are less significant than numbered pay-per-view shows. According to the report, Ultimate is working on four dates for events in Brazil in 2018, one more than this year. There are also plans for the UFC to debut in other South American countries, mainly Chile and Argentina.

In 2017, Ultimate held two events in the first half of the year, taking the show to Fortaleza in March and returning to Rio de Janeiro after a year in June for UFC 212, with a title fight (the champion José Aldo lost the title to Max Holloway). This Saturday (28), the UFC closes the Brazilian calendar with the UFC Sao Paulo, which will have the return of Lyoto Machida against Derek Brunson in the main fight. Demian Maia, Francisco Massaranduba, John Lineker, Thiago Marreta, among others, are also confirmed for the show.
