In an interview with the website 'MMAJunkie', the former UFC fighter revealed that, going through his first challenge in the house, he intends to challenge the Brazilian Raphael Carvalho, current middleweight champion. If successful, the next step will be in the light heavyweight division.

“First I want to beat Shlemenko, and then I can focus on the title fight. Then, if I get the title, I can move up to light heavyweight”, declared Mousasi, who explained that the weight cut is increasingly complicated for his body, largely due to the long time he has been carrying out the dehydration process. .
“Weight cutting is too complicated. As you get older, it gets even harder. I've done this many times. You get tired of it. But middleweight is where I perform at my best,” he concluded.
At 32 years old, Mousasi has won five consecutive victories, the last four by knockout: he defeated, in sequence, Thales leites, Thiago Marreta, Vitor belfort, Uriah Hall e Chris Weidman. He has a vast CV, having started his career at the age of 17, in 2003, months before coming of age. He played in major events such as Pride, Dream and Strikeforce, in addition to the UFC. His record is 42 wins, six losses and two draws.
