Tanquinho suffers tibia injury and is removed from the UFC São Paulo card

the card of UFC Sao Paulo, scheduled for October 28th, at the Ibirapuera gym, suffered another casualty. Bantamweight Augusto Tanquinho suffered a tibia injury and is out of the fight against newcomer Boston Salmon, in a duel that would be part of the preliminary portion of the show. It has not yet been decided whether Ultimate will select another Brazilian fighter as a replacement or remove the North American from the event. The information was given by the 'Combate' channel website.

World jiu-jitsu champion, Tanquinho is under pressure for the duel, needing victory to avoid the risk of dismissal. After debuting being knocked out by cody garbrandt, in February 2016, he recovered or beat Frankie Saenz in January of this year, but was defeated again, this time to aljamain sterling, last April. At 34 years old, he has only eight fights as a professional, six of which were positive and two were negative.

Salmos, in turn, also doesn't have much experience in MMA: at 26 years old, he has six wins and one setback. His most recent performance – which earned him entry into the UFC – was his victory against Ricky Turcios in the first episode of Dana White's new reality show, 'Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series'.

O UFC Sao Paulo, the organization's last event in Brazil in 2017, will see the return of Lyoto Machida, suspended for the last 18 months. The former light heavyweight champion faces Derek Brunson in the main fight of the show, in a middleweight duel. Among the Brazilians, also in action will be names like Demian Maia, Antonio Shoe Guy, Thiago Marreta, Francisco Massaranduba and John Lineker.
