UFC will donate US$1 million to the families of victims of the Las Vegas attack

The promotion also guaranteed that UFC 216 next Saturday (7) is confirmed for the North American city

The UFC will make a donation of US$1 million (R$3,15 million) to the families of the victims of an attack that occurred in Las Vegas last Sunday night (1st). The organization has been based in the North American city for some years and president Dana White was raised in the area along with former owners Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta. In addition to the donation, Ultimate made a point of confirming that UFC 216, scheduled for next Saturday (7), is maintained on the city's sporting calendar, despite the tragedy.

On the North American website Yahoo Sports, Ultimate released a short official note in which its main objective is to support the citizens of Las Vegas and guarantee that UFC 216 will take place on the planned date.

“Our focus at this time is on supporting the community and all those affected by the events that occurred last Sunday night. UFC 216 on Saturday, October 7th at T-Mobile Arena will proceed as planned until further notice,” the statement said.

Retired Stephen Paddock, 64, opened fire on citizens who were watching a country music concert near the Mandalay Bay hotel. Local police have confirmed, to date, 58 deaths and more than 500 injured people. Shortly after the attack, Paddock killed himself and was found dead by a SWAT team.
