In the promotion for UFC 207, the disappearance of Ronda Rousey, then challenging for the title of Amanda nunes, caught the attention of the press and fans. The American didn't give any major interviews before the event, and many thought she had been hurt by journalists after her loss to Holly holm. However, the former champion's coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, explained that she needed to focus on training, as her body did not cope well with returning to her rhythm and training routine, and therefore refused media requests.

In an interview with The MMA Hour, Tarverdyan said that Ronda had already done many interviews on other occasions and his team decided to focus only on the fight and the injuries.
“We did a lot of media and a lot of work. So we decided to step aside for this one fight. I don't think it was a big deal, we just stayed away and focused on the fight. So we could have a different result. It didn't work, but it doesn't mean we disrespected anyone (…) She wasn't well either. Her body couldn't handle the pace of training. We had to eliminate a lot of things and just focus on training so that the fight could happen”, declared the coach, who praised Amanda, when talking about how Ronda was prepared for the duel.
“Nunes is a great striker and Ronda was caught from the start. You saw how fit she was. Ronda took all those blows and remained standing. She was fit and strong. This shows that she was strong and that she would not fall with the blows she was taking. Many girls, no matter who Amanda faced, fell. But she didn’t,” she signed off.
