Miocic guarantees he would have faced Jones: 'No problem'

UFC heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic he came close to having one of the biggest fights in the history of the sport. Dana White, president of the organization, revealed that he intended to marry Miocic against Jon Jones, before the former owner of the light heavyweight belt fell under an anti-doping test. The Croatian-American guaranteed that he would have accepted a duel against Jones, considered one of the best of all time.

“I had no idea that there was such a possibility (of facing Jon Jones). Look, I'm usually the last to know about things, which is fine. If they wanted to pit me against Jones, I would have accepted it. I don't care about that, no problem, but it never got to me. I had no idea, it’s not a joke,” Miocic told the North American program The MMA Hour.

If he wins his next fight, the champion will break the record for most heavyweight title defenses. However, Miocic always keeps in mind that one blow can change everything, especially in his category. The Croatian-American wants to return in December or January, but has not chosen an opponent.

“There are a lot of guys close to a title shot. Anything can happen in this category at any time, you know? That's what's scary about all this. No matter how good you are, you can fall at any time. We haven’t said anything yet about an opponent and I don’t care about that, but I intend to return in December or January”, he revealed.
