The Brazilian Rafael Dos Anjos stayed on course for a second UFC belt with a dominant performance over Neil Magny. Former lightweight champion, RDA won his second welterweight victory via submission in the first round, after completely dominating the duel with the North American on the ground. After the win, he asked for a title shot.

"I'm coming. I want that welterweight belt. I feel refreshed, I'm better, I had to gain weight because I was killing myself. I want to see my children grow up, I want to see my grandchildren. Now, I'm coming to win my second belt. I was lightweight champion and now I want to be welterweight champion”, Rafael shouted after the fight.

Contrary to what happened in his welterweight debut against Tarec saffiedine, RDA started the fight giving a little space to Magny, who was investing in his size to not let the Brazilian get closer. However, in the first chance he had, Dos Anjos managed to take him down. He immediately fell from his guard, but Neil Magny showed improvement in his ground game and managed to regain half guard.

However, the Brazilian started working with elbows from his sock, tried to attack the North American's neck and managed to pass the guard. Soon after, he sought mount and succeeded too, unleashing hard blows on Magny, who tried to turn around and left his armpits unprotected, allowing RDA to land a hard katagatame and end the duel.

Reis is dominated by Cejudo

In the third most important fight of the night, the Brazilian Wilson reis returned to the Octagon after his defeat to Demetrious Johnson, flyweight champion, in April. However, Reis was dominated again, this time on his feet. Olympic wrestling champion, Henry Cejudo He showed enormous progress on his feet, using a karate base to land hard blows at will.

In the first round, Cejudo started using combinations with straight punches and alternating with high and low kicks. Wilson seemed much slower than his opponent and almost missed the target. The exception was a right hook that found “The Messenger” in the face. However, the Mexican-American didn't seem to feel the blow and continued to dominate. At the end of the first round, he still managed a good takedown to accentuate his victory. But right at the beginning of the second round, Cejudo closed the account. Using straight strikes again, the flyweight put Wilson on the ground and continued with harder strikes, knocking out the Brazilian.

In the featherweight division, Gilbert Melendez, former Strikeforce lightweight champion, made his debut in the category against Jeremy Stephens. However, “El Niño” continued its losing streak, being dominated by its opponent. The highlight was his bravery, as a sequence of low kicks from “Lil' Heathen” appeared to seriously damage one of his legs. Even so, Melendez continued fighting until the end.

At light heavyweight, the Swede Ilir Latifi returned from a year of inactivity (he hadn't fought since the knockout he suffered against Ryan bader) and won Tyson Peter by decision. Using his wrestling against the superior striker, Latifi took away the invincibility of the promising Pedro, who had never left the first round in his career, and lost strength and speed as the minutes passed.
