Women's bantamweight champion for 14 months, Amanda nunes dreams of making history in the division. After reaching the top finishing Miesha Tate at the historic UFC 200, in July 2016, the Brazilian made her first title defense by knocking out Ronda Rousey in just 48 seconds last December. Now, this Saturday (09), in Edmonton (CAN), the rival will be an old acquaintance: Valentina Shevchenko, whom the Lioness already defeated on points, in March of last year.

“I want to leave my mark in this division. Whoever is in front of me, I will run over. The victory against Valentina will be important for me because the fans expect something like this from me and I need to keep proving myself, showing that I'm ready for every battle and every obstacle that life shows me, and Valentina is a good challenge to overcome. (…) She is the number one challenger and I want to fight her. This is the fight I want, she wants it too and this fight needs to happen because no one in the division, in the top 5, is qualified to face me. Valentina is the only one”, declared the Bahian, in an interview with the UFC website.

Used to so-called 'superfights', Nunes claims that her recent triumphs have given her the confidence to remain at the top of the division. According to her, both her physical and mental preparation are 100% ready for the duel against Valentina.

PUBLICITY:

“My last two fights are the two that put my confidence in my abilities at a high level – the fights with Miesha and Ronda – and my focus was so big on those fights because I had been preparing my whole life to be a mentally strong champion. Nothing will shake me, no one will shake me. I’m ready to get through this fight and move on to the next one,” she concluded.
