He will face Tony Ferguson at UFC 216, on October 7th in Las Vegas, for the provisional belt in the under-70 kg category, whose lineal champion is Conor McGregor. In an interview with the MMA Junkie Radio program, the American declared that Khabib did not want to fight Ferguson on the date stipulated by the UFC and, therefore, lost the chance to become interim lightweight champion.

PUBLICITY:

“In the end, he turned yellow. Nurmagomedov simply didn't want to fight. He doesn't want to fight, by the way. He doesn’t want to hold on to that imaginary zero on his record”, commented Lee, in relation to Khabib’s unbeaten record in MMA.

Nurmagomedov and Ferguson were supposed to face each other at UFC 209, in March this year, but the Russian fell ill days before the fight and the duel was cancelled. For this reason, Ultimate also decided to bet on Lee, who is coming off important victories over names like Francisco Massaranduba e Michael chiesa. The “Motown Phenom” made a point of praising Tony Ferguson, your next opponent.

PUBLICITY:

“I think he’s the division champion. It's the toughest fight in the entire lightweight division. Conor McGregor He's the champion on paper, but he has a fight in the division. Ferguson has much more than that and has proven himself time and time again (…) That being said, I intend to dominate him at UFC 216. There is a reason why no one challenges me in this category”, he concluded.
