Women's bantamweight title challenger, Valentina Shevchenko would have the chance to take the belt from his rival Amanda nunes at UFC 213. However, on the day of the fight, the Brazilian suffered from a chronic sinusitis attack and left the fight, rescheduled for UFC 215, in September. However, the Kyrgyzstani doubts that sinusitis was the reason for the Lioness to leave the fight.

In an interview with the North American website “BJPenn.com”, “Bullet” stated that Amanda suffered a lot during the weight cut and felt bad after rehydrating and, therefore, withdrew from the fight between the two.

“I don’t believe the reason she gave for being sick. She said she had a sinus attack or something like that. I do not believe this. I think she was cutting weight and suffered from it. The last 24 hours before the fight ended up being a little too much and she withdrew. I think she was very weak from the weight cut. When there is any health problem, of course you go to the doctor and reveal her situation, but she didn't do that. The doctor checked her later and cleared her to fight, but she still wasn't feeling well. Because of the weight cut. That’s why I think the weight cut was the reason why she left the fight,” commented Shevchenko, who said she remained focused for UFC 215.

“I was so close, but it didn't happen. Now we have a date and it was great, two months after UFC 213. I was able to rest a little and return to training with the same focus. I'm always motivated, I don't need something extra because I always have the ability to motivate myself and push myself to the extreme”, she concluded.
