Without charge, taekwondo trio competes in Germany

The Olympic taekwondo trio from Brazil, formed by Márcio Wenceslau (-58kg), Débora Nunes (-57kg) and Natalia Falavigna (+67kg), will compete this Sunday in the Hamburg Open, in Germany. This will be the athletes' second competition of the season. In a test event held in Beijing, only Débora won the bronze medal. Natália and Márcio fell in the first round.

For the national team's technical coordinator, Mauro Hideki, however, it is not yet time to demand results. “We had the opportunity to preview a large contingent of athletes who will be in Beijing. The aim of this Brazilian team’s participation in the German Open is to train and exchange information.”

For Márcio, the experience of last week's first tournament in China gave the group more confidence. “I had more time to train and exchange blows with athletes from Iran, Mexico, Germany, Uzbekistan, among others. It was very worthwhile”, said the fighter.

Márcio also dismissed the pressure for results. “The expectation is to simply fight well, we are not yet worried about the results, that is not my objective now.”

Furthermore, the opportunity to participate in the test event made it possible to observe the organization of other delegations. “I could even see that in some aspects we are better prepared than some nations,” said Hideki. After participating in the Hamburg Open, the Brazilian delegation returns to Brazil.
