“Every fight I take part in I feel like it could be the semi-final to get to a title fight. And that's how I see Moreno. My name is one of the biggest in the flyweight division. Until Demetrious Johnson He said he wanted to face me instead of Ray Borg. I think someone will get there and beat him, it's just a matter of time. Look José Aldo. In time, someone arrived and managed to beat him. The same happened with Anderson Silva and I will dethrone Johnson”, said Pettis, in an interview with the North American website “FloCombat”, denying rumors that the flyweight category will be extinguished.

“I was scared when I heard these rumors. I'm on my way to becoming the new champion of this division. It needs a new face and I'm ready to be that guy (…) We're a growing division and we're getting more and more exciting fights. Look at the fighters who are arriving, like me and Brandon Moreno, who is a great athlete (…) I don’t think they will close the division. Johnson, regardless of his next fight, is an incredible fighter. One of the best of all time”, commented Pettis.
