The heavy weight Frank mir announced his departure from the UFC a few months ago, following an agreement with the organization and is negotiating with some other promotions. However, the former Ultimate champion seems willing to talk to Bellator, his former employers' biggest rival. This is because Mir dreams of fighting with Fedor Emelianenko, which has a contract with the promotion via a partnership with Rizin, a Japanese event.

“Fedor would be a phenomenal name to have on my resume. Having faced someone like Fedor is something I can carry with me for the rest of my life. But Fedor fights in several events. So I don't want to get into a situation that I've been in for 16 years: “Hey, I want to fight you, but I'm in the UFC and you're not.” And that's boring. My duel with Fedor would never happen in that situation. So I want to avoid that in the future”, commented Mir, in an interview with the program The MMA Hour.

However, the former champion will have to wait until April 2018 to be in action again. Part of the agreement that released him from the UFC provides for him to stay away from competition for a few months, as he had been suspended by USADA after failing an anti-doping test. His suspension period ends in April, but as other promotions are not partners with USADA, he could fight outside the United States. But he intends to avoid any problems with his former bosses.

“I could fight outside the United States, but I don't know what it would be like to return to fight in the country after that. It’s a gray area, so I don’t know if something like that would be worth it”, he pondered.
