Last Saturday's UFC 214 (29) had great fights and, after the event, the company's president, Dana White, praised two of them: Brian ortega x Renato Moicano e Robbie Lawler x Donald Cerrone. And the two losers of these fights may have to stay away from the Octagon until 2018. This is because Moicano and Cerrone received initial six-month medical suspensions, according to a list published by the North American website MMA Fighting.

The American “Cowboy” lost by unanimous decision to former champion Lawler in the main portion of the event and suffered an injury to his left eye. The Nevada Athletic Commission suspended him for 180 days, but he could return before that period if he shows medical tests that prove his problem has been resolved.
The Brazilian featherweight is in a similar situation. After the duel with Ortega, voted the best of the night, Moicano was also suspended for 180 days by the Commission's medical team. It is suspected that he suffered a fracture to his face, close to his jaw and he will need to submit tests that prove that there was no injury or that the problem has been overcome if he wants to return to fighting before this period.
Another athlete who received the same period of medical suspension was strawweight Alexandra Albu. She beat Kaillin Curran on the preliminary card, but is suspected of having a fracture in a bone in the orbital cavity of her left eye. She may also return sooner if it is proven that the injury has healed. The other Brazilians involved in the card, Demian Maia, Chris Cyborg e Renan Barao, received only a mandatory seven-day medical suspension, automatic for everyone competing in an MMA fight.
