Without Amanda Nunes, UFC 213 has the worst sales volume of 2017

Less than 150 pay-per-view packages were sold at a time that traditionally brings good sales to Ultimate

UFC 213 was the least purchased event of the year so far among the shows offered only on pay-per-view by Ultimate. According to information from the North American website “MMA Fighting”, between 120 thousand and 150 thousand houses bought the card, which had as its main fight a duel valid for the interim middleweight title, between Robert whittaker e Yoel romero, won by the New Zealander.

It is speculated that the sudden departure of Amanda nunes of the show – she would do the main fight against Valentina Shevchenko – may have influenced the low numbers. The low sales volume is especially painful for the UFC, as the North American Independence week event normally sells a lot – last year, the historic UFC 200 (also with the Lioness as the night's biggest attraction) won 1,2 million of pay-per-view packages, almost 10 times more than UFC 213.

The repeated changes to the main fight may also have influenced fans not to buy the package. Initially, the UFC wanted to put the return of Georges St Pierre against Michael Bisping for this event. With the Canadian injured, the organization scheduled the duel between cody garbrandt e TJ Dillashaw for the show, but “No Love” also suffered an injury and the big attraction ended up being, until a few hours before the start of the show, the rematch between Amanda and Shevchenko.
