At the press conference after UFC Scotland, which marked his first appearance in an Ultimate main fight, “Gente Boa” preached respect for Magny and Condit, but admitted that he intends to test himself against one of the two. Ponzinibbio also declared that he dreams of fighting in Argentina.

The triumph over Nelson was Ponzinibbio's fifth in a row in the UFC. Before facing the Icelander, the Argentine had lined up Andreas Stahl, Court mcgee, Zak Cummings and Nordine Taleb. With the victory over the number eight in the rankings, the Argentine, who occupies 14th place, should take a big leap and reach the top-10 of the welterweight division, whose champion is Tyron woodley – the North American faces the Brazilian Demian Maia for the title at UFC 214 on July 29th.
