UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor appears to be having difficulties preparing for the boxing superfight he will have against Floyd Mayweather on August 26th. According to boxer Jessie Vargas, the Irishman was knocked out during sparring training (fight simulation). “The Notorious” was training with former world lightweight boxing champion Brandon Rios when he blacked out after a blow from the American.

Vargas, who was world champion in two different weights in boxing, made the revelation in an interview with the online channel Villainfy Media. The boxer also guaranteed that Mayweather will beat McGregor by knockout:

“McGregor will be knocked out in the sixth or seventh round. I have no doubt about that. Mayweather always delivers on what he promises. In fact, I want to bet some money on this fight. Of course there is that 1% chance that Conor will be able to hit him. Maybe not even that. There is 0,5%. He was knocked out during training, in sparring. Boxing is a small world, a small circle. They tried to get Brandon Rios to train him, but Rios knocked him out so they took him out of camp,” he revealed.

Jessie Vargas hasn't fought since November 2016, when he lost the World Boxing Organization welterweight title to Manny Pacquiao. Rios, who also held the same title as Vargas, is coming off a victory over Aaron Herrera in June this year. He bounced back after losing the belt to Timothy Bradley.
