McGregor's executioner, Joseph Duffy renews contract with UFC

The Irishman, who became known for submitting McGregor before joining the UFC, renewed for seven more fights with Ultimate

Considered one of the UFC's top prospects, despite already being 29 years old, the lightweight Joseph Duffy renewed his contract with the organization for another seven fights. The Irishman's renewal comes precisely in the week in which Ultimate lost one of its best fighters: the middleweight Gegard Mousasi he didn't agree with the company and will fight for Bellator.

Duffy arrived in the UFC with the status of executioner of Conor McGregor, after submitting the lightweight champion in just 38 seconds, in 2010, when both played for Cage Warriors. In Ultimate since 2015, he has had five fights at home, recording four wins and one loss.

His debut was against Jake Lindsey, whom he knocked out in less than two minutes. Afterwards, he submitted the Brazilian Ivan Batman, but his good streak was interrupted when he was defeated in the decision by Dustin poirier. However, he returned to good form by submitting Mitch Clarke and beating Reza Madadi on points. In total, his record contains 16 triumphs and two setbacks.
