Gunnar Nelson has a challenge scheduled against Santiago Ponzinibbio at UFC Scotland, this Sunday (16), but the Icelander cannot forget another fighter. Defeated by Demian Maia at UFC 194, in December 2015, Gunna admits that he would very much like to have a rematch with the Brazilian, preferably if the duel is for the welterweight title (under 77kg).

“I would also like to have the chance to fight ([Demian) Maia at some point, that's my little dream. I would like to be able to challenge him for the title, if he can do that. I hope he can do it”, he declared, in an interview with the program 'The MMA Hour' (USA).
For the fight to take place for the category belt, firstly, Demian must defeat the champion Tyron woodley at UFC 214, July 29th. And if it depends on Nelson's fans, the jiu-jitsu ace will have an advantage in the confrontation.
“I think he can definitely (beat Tyron Woodley) I think so. I'm always rooting for him. I almost always support him when he's fighting, except when we face each other. But that didn’t help, did it?([…) I would definitely love to fight him”, he concluded.
In the UFC since 2012, Gunnar Nelson, 28 years old, has seven positive results and two negative results in the organization. He comes from two consecutive victories, both by submission, against Albert Tumenov and Alan Jouban. His last setback was precisely against Demian Maia.
