Shortly before starting the first leg of the publicity tour for his superfight with Conor McGregor, Floyd Mayweather met with journalists in Los Angeles and praised his future opponent. The American boxer, who will face the UFC lightweight champion on August 26th, said he sees “The Notorious” as his successor in the world of fights.

“It's cool to see someone like him coming into the fight world like that. I feel like I've carried that torch for a long time and I think in the future, he's going to be that person. (Our fight) will be a clash of worlds. I will carry the boxing world into the ring and he will bring the MMA people along with him. I know McGregor is going to be in the MMA Hall of Fame, so I think he’s a big presence in the sport,” said Mayweather.

When asked if his duel against Conor McGregor could break the records of his fight with Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather said he was hopeful and praised his opponent again.

"I hope so. It's crazy because now I'm trying to break my own records. Before, I was looking for numbers that other boxers had achieved and now I'm looking to surpass myself. On the other hand, we have a very interesting personality. I think I can still get there and compete well”, he commented.
