the average weight Gegard Mousasi announced, this Monday (10), that he will leave the UFC for Bellator. The Armenian revealed that he signed a six-fight contract with the new promotion and that he intends to remain in the 84 kg category, but that he dreams of also moving up to light heavyweight (93 kg), a division in which he reigned in Strikeforce before the end of the event.

“I'm excited to be the Bellator middleweight champion soon. If I achieve this, I will be excited to move up to light heavyweight and become champion there too. But first I want the middleweight title. That’s my goal”, commented the athlete, in an interview with the program “The MMA Hour”.
Mousasi, who is coming off a great technical knockout victory over the former champion Chris Weidman, had already revealed his dissatisfaction with the UFC's renewal offer. According to the athlete, the contract offered by Ultimate was far below what he expected in terms of a raise due to his streak of five consecutive victories – in addition to Weidman, Uriah Hall and the brazilians Vitor belfort, Thiago Marreta e Thales leites they were also victimized by the Armenian.
At 31 years old, Mousasi has a vast CV, having started his career at the age of 17, in 2003, months before reaching adulthood. He played in major events such as Pride, Dream and Strikeforce, in addition to the UFC. His record is 42 wins, six losses and two draws. The Armenian leaves Ultimate as the number four middleweight in the world in the organization's rankings.
