Bisping says he will face Romero or Whittaker if GSP doesn't want to fight

Without fighting since October last year, Bisping stated that he will put his belt on the line at the end of 2017

Two soap operas have taken over the UFC in recent years: the upcoming title defense Michael Bisping, middleweight champion, and the return of Georges St Pierre to the octagons. Although speculation suggests that the two will face each other at the end of the year, the Englishman claims that he will not wait long for the Canadian. According to Bisping, Yoel romero ou Robert whittaker, who will face each other at UFC 213, this Saturday (08), in a duel valid for the interim belt in the under-84kg division, could be his next opponent.

“Georges, if you're watching, I did everything I could. I spoke with Dana White, expressed my desire to face Georges St Pierre. Every time we talk on the phone, I say, “Dana, everything is great, everything is great, but what about my fight with GSP?” I did everything I could. If you want this to happen, pick up your phone, call someone, text – do something. Georges, wake up! Make the call. I know you have some problems, but call the man. Call Dana White. If I can't say I'm going to fight GSP, then I'll have to say I'm going to fight Whittaker or Romero. I can't be a bitch about this. Basically, the count has already started”, declared the champion, in an interview with the program “The MMA Hour”.

However, although he admits that the duel against GSP may not happen, Bisping once again reiterated his desire to face the former welterweight champion.

“I was supposed to fight GSP. Why wouldn't I fight him? Of course, it would be a big deal. He's a guy who will be considered a welterweight legend forever. I would love this fight thinking about my legacy. We've been at this a million times. Now, Dana says he doesn't want the fight. Georges says he does want the fight. I just know that I want to fight, and if we can still promote this confrontation, then great, I'm in”, which he concluded by stating that he was tired of the delay in defining who his opponent will be in his second title defense.

“I'm sick of hearing everyone saying I don't want to fight. Honestly, who am I going to fight? I might not give a shit about that. I really could. If it's GSP, Yoel or Whittaker... I'm fed up. I want to fight. I need to fight. My knee keeps giving me problems, but who cares? I need to fight. I'm brushing off the cobwebs and getting ready. At the end of the year, one of these three will get the fight,” he concluded.
