Vitor Miranda and Chiesa receive six-month medical suspension

Brazilian and American are two of six athletes who were preventively suspended due to injuries during UFC Oklahoma

Defeated at UFC Oklahoma last Sunday (25), Michael chiesa e Vitor miranda two of six athletes who performed in the event received a six-month medical suspension. The American has a suspected injury to his left shoulder after his controversial defeat to Kevin Lee in the main fight. The Brazilian has a “probable injury to his right ankle”, acquired during his setback to Marvin vettori. Both will be able to return before the initially set period if they prove that their problems have been overcome.

In addition to Chiesa and “Lex Luthor”, four other athletes received the same suspension. They are: Devin Powell, Johnny Case, Felice herrig and Tim Boetsch. The last two won their fights, beating Justine Kish and John hendricks, respectively. Powell lost a split decision to Darrell Horcher while Case was unanimously defeated in the side judges' papers against Tony Martin.

Other athletes received lesser suspensions. B.J. Penn, Joachim Christensen, Michael Quiñones and Josh Stansbury will be out for 45 days, while Hendricks, Kish, Vettori and Martin have been suspended for a month. All athletes will be able to return to fight sooner, as long as they present tests that prove that they have recovered from their various injuries.
