Two of the best welterweights in the world found a new way to arrange a fight. Instead of using businesspeople and the UFC itself, Jorge masvidal e Stephen Thompson were side by side during a question and answer session at the UFC Singapore and reached a verbal agreement to face each other soon.

It all started when a fan asked Thompson what he thought of Masvidal as a future opponent. The two had already teased each other lightly on social media and the former welterweight title challenger assured that he was interested in facing “Gamebred”, who is coming off a defeat to Demian Maia.
“Look, it’s not official, but we want it. We want this fight, we want to get to the octagon and face each other. I come from a defeat and so does he, although I think Masvidal won Demian Maia, in truth. But he is a great striker and I think it would be a very busy fight”, commented Thompson, being supported by his future opponent.
The American karateka hasn't entered the Octagon since he was defeated by Tyron woodley at UFC 209. He had already faced the welterweight champion at UFC 205, when there was a draw in a great fight, but the second duel left something to be desired. Masvidal, in turn, is coming off a defeat to Demian, but previously he had lined up opponents of the caliber of Donald Cerrone,
