The fighting world is in mourning. Former UFC fighter Tim Hague died this Sunday (18), at the age of 34, in Edmonton, Canada. The heavyweight did not survive head injuries and passed away less than 48 hours after being knocked out in a boxing match last Friday (16).

The death was confirmed by Hague's own family through a statement on social media. “It is with incredible sadness and heartache that we inform you that Tim passed away today. He was surrounded by family, listening to his favorite songs. We will miss him very much”, says an excerpt from the statement.

Hague suffered a brain hemorrhage after suffering several blows in the fight against former American football player Adam Braidwood. The heavyweight went to the canvas several times in just two rounds, but the referee didn't declare the knockout until the fighter was out.
According to the “Edmonton Journal”, the Edmonton Athletic Commission, the entity responsible for sanctioning the fight, is conducting an investigation into the case and has requested reports from all referees, judges, doctors and inspectors who worked on the fight.

Tim Hague began his MMA career in 2006 and won the heavyweight belt at the King of the Cage event the following year. He arrived at the UFC in 2009 and accumulated a record of just one win and four losses. His last MMA fight was in July 2016, when he was defeated by knockout in 33 seconds against Michal Andryszak in Russia. His MMA record was 21 wins and 13 losses. In boxing, Hague won one fight in 2011 and lost two in 2016.
