The UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, he was dismissive of his possible next opponents. Out of combat due to an injury, the Englishman saw Ultimate move and schedule a valid fight for the interim title of his category, between Robert whittaker e Yoel romero. The duel will take place at UFC 213, on July 8th, but for Bisping the belt in dispute means nothing.
““This (interim belt) doesn’t mean anything. Interim belts are not worth the leather they are printed on. An interim belt is a joke. I defended my title in October and had a problem with my knee, but it's the UFC's decision and if they want to do that, then good for them! All it does is solidify who is the number one contender (…) They (UFC) have to sell pay per views. Dana asked me if I could fight in July and I said I couldn't because I had two knee surgeries at the beginning of the year and the recovery time wasn't as planned. It's been going on longer than expected and he asked me if I minded an interim title fight. So I told him to do whatever he wants. It doesn’t bother me,” said Bisping in an interview with the English website “OddsBible”.
Bisping was scheduled to face Georges St Pierre, but before the duel had a date, the Canadian revealed that he could only fight in October, and the UFC removed him from the contest. Yoel romero was supposed to replace GSP, but then the English champion suffered an injury and the Cuban will compete for the interim title with Robert whittaker, who comes from seven straight victories and knocked out the Brazilian Ronaldo Jacare in April this year.
