The victory of Max Holloway about José Aldo at UFC 212, held last Saturday (03), in Rio de Janeiro, another UFC champion was pleased. The English Michael Bisping, current holder of the middleweight belt, said that the Hawaiian's victory once again legitimizes the featherweight division, since the Englishman disputes the fact that Aldo became champion again by having just one fight after being knocked out by Conor McGregor.

“I think it's fantastic that Holloway won, as it brings life back into the under-66 kilos category. Honestly, José Aldo He's a great fighter, he had a fantastic career, this and that, but I didn't buy for a second the talk that Aldo was the featherweight champion. I'm sorry, but he was knocked out in 13 seconds, fought and was champion again. I never bought into that,” Bisping declared on his 'Believe You Me' podcast.

Bisping also cited Holloway's defeat to Conor, but highlighted that the duel took place three years ago. For the Englishman, the featherweight division once again has an undisputed champion with Holloway at the top.

“On the other hand, Holloway was undefeated in 10 fights and improving with each fight. Holloway destroyed him and now we can say we have a legitimate champion. Yes, he lost to Conor, but the fight was three, four years ago and Holloway is a different fighter now. So, the 66kg category now has a solid, definitive, undisputed champion,” he concluded.
