UFC 212's main fight left a bitter taste for José Aldo, who lost the featherweight belt to the interim and now linear champion Max Holloway. However, the Brazilian's knockout defeat could be alleviated by the Fight of the Night bonus. Ultimate announced, shortly after the end of the event, that the main fight of UFC 212 was awarded the best fight prize, and both Aldo and Holloway will receive an extra US$50.

In addition to the two, the Brazilian Claudia gadelha and the North American brian kelleher they were also awarded the Performance of the Night bonus. Claudinha gave a jiu-jitsu show on top of Karolina Kowalkiewicz and, after showing superiority on the feet, she managed a perfect takedown, took her back and submitted the Polish woman, still in the initial round, with a rear naked choke.
Kelleher, in turn, made his UFC debut against veteran Iuri “Marajó” Alcântara. Even in his first fight in the company and against a fighter with an excellent level of jiu-jitsu, the North American also submitted, landing a very tight guillotine choke, forcing the Brazilian to tap out almost instantly after locking in the position.
