After 18 fights in the UFC, with nine wins and nine losses, Roy Nelson officially announced, at the beginning of the week, his move to Bellator, his former employer's biggest rival. As a justification for leaving Ultimate, the heavyweight assured that, in his new home, he will have a better quality of life.

At Bellator, Nelson will once again be able to use independent sponsors, which had been vetoed by the UFC due to the agreement with Reebok. The American admitted that the financial factor also weighed on his decision, guaranteeing that he made the change because he thought it would be best for his family.

“I think it was more so that I understood what was best for my family. I came and spoke to my wife and we kind of went there and decided what we needed to do for the quality of life. These are things that will improve our quality of life based on the stress I went through (…) I think it's one of those things that is best for my family, not what's best for everyone else”, declared Nelson, on the program North American “The MMA Hour”.

Despite being disaffected by Dana White, “Big Country” refused to criticize his former boss, but admitted that working for Scott Coker, former president of Strikeforce and now head of Bellator, really had an impact on signing with the new company.

PUBLICITY:

“The thing about working with Scott Coker is that I've never heard anyone say bad things about Scott Coker. And that means a lot, especially in our sport”, he concluded.
