Apparently, the return of Michael Bisping to the octagon shouldn't happen anytime soon. This is because the fighter himself revealed this Tuesday (16) that he has a knee injury, which has prevented him from even training. Interestingly, the news comes days after Georges St Pierre announce that he will only be able to fight again from October. For the middleweight champion, the Canadian's delay is a 'blessing in disguise'.

“It's a blessing in disguise, because I won't be able to fight anytime soon. I can't train because I have serious problems with my knee. I was already feeling this in Thailand, and it didn't improve at all. It's a long story, but the truth is that I won't be able to fight for some time. Therefore, the scenario ended up being perfect for me”, he declared, in an interview with the “Believe You Me” podcast.

Bisping also stated that his plan is to face St. Pierre in his next title defense. According to the Englishman, Ultimate has not yet informed him about a possible cancellation of the clash.

“Honestly, this is news to me. They didn't tell me anything about it. I spoke to Georges and he told me that he also did not receive any official position. No member of the UFC management spoke to me. I know a lot of people are complaining about the delay in this fight against GSP. Let's see what happens... To make things clear, so far the UFC has no official position. Georges and I are waiting. I was offered this fight twice: first in October, and nothing happened. Then in January or February, things moved along. We held a press conference, shook hands and talked a lot of nonsense in Las Vegas. We haven't signed the contract yet, but the plan is for us to fight. There was an offer and I accepted. I believe that, once the agreement is made, we have to maintain it”, said the champion.

Asked about the current situation in the middleweight division, Bisping stated that he understands the complaints of some rivals, but confirmed his desire to face GSP next.

“Rockhold has no reason to talk. Some have, to be honest. Yoel romero been waiting for some time, just like Robert whittaker e Gegard Mousasi. I agree with these three. But I have a fight scheduled. Until I hear something different from the UFC, I hope my next commitment is to face Georges St-Pierre,” he concluded.
