In the not too distant past, when Anderson Silva e Georges St Pierre reigned in the middleweight (up to 84kg) and welterweight (77kg) categories, respectively, a duel between the duo has always been speculated in the world of MMA. Years passed, the Brazilian and the Canadian lost their reigns and the fight never left the paper or the fans' imagination.

Interestingly, both left the top in 2013: the 'Spider' was knocked out by Chris Weidman and St. Pierre retired. Now, almost four years later and preparing to fight again, GSP does not look favorably on a possible fight with Silva. For him, Anderson is no longer the same as he was in the past.

“It could happen, but it depends on the conditions, because fights are about the moment. One moment the fighter's image is valued; in another, no. And you always want to fight against whoever has the most valued image possible. There is this fluctuation. I don't think the image of Anderson Silva be on the rise right now. He is a legend for everything he did in the past, but he is no longer the same as he was”, he declared, in an interview with the website “MMA Junkie” (USA).

St. Pierre hasn't fought since November 2013, when he crashed John hendricks and shortly thereafter announced his indefinite retirement from MMA. In total, he has a professional record of 25 wins and two losses. In the UFC, he has 20 triumphs and two setbacks, with nine title defenses in the welterweight category.
