Woodley minimizes Demian's chances: 'Don't take my back'

Current welterweight champion, Woodley stated that Demian will not be able to use his jiu-jitsu in the duel between them

Shortly after Dana White confirmed that Demian Maia will be the next challenger for the welterweight category title (up to 77kg), the current weight champion Tyron woodley made a point of minimizing the Brazilian's chances. According to the current belt holder, the Brazilian's jiu-jitsu will not be effective when they face each other.

Woodley, 35 years old, became champion of the category by defeating Robbie Lawler at UFC 201, in July 2016, by knockout in the first round. He defended his belt on two occasions, both against Stephen Thompson, having drawn the first and winning the rematch, in March of this year. With 17 wins and just three losses in his career, T-Wood hasn't known what it's like to lose since 2014, when he was surpassed by Rory McDonald in the unanimous decision of the judges. In Ultimate, there are seven positive results, two negative results and one draw.
