UFC president, Dana White, revealed that he has a set deadline to close negotiations between Ultimate and Conor McGregor, so that he can free the Irishman to fight Floyd Mayweather in boxing. The North American director believes that, if he resolves his disputes with the lightweight champion by next Sunday (14), then the fight has everything to happen.

“I plan to have this finalized by Sunday (May 14) and then move on to negotiate with Mayweather’s team. If we can do all of this by Sunday, then this fight could really happen. But once again, I still have to negotiate with them. There is no guarantee that we will reach an agreement. I think the chances of reaching an agreement with McGregor are very good and I hope, on Monday, to sit down to negotiate with Mayweather's team. I just can't keep messing with this. I need to run my business and focus on all the other things that are going on”, commented White, on the North American program “The Jim Rome Show”.

Before negotiating with Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor first needs UFC release. This is because the contract that Ultimate offers athletes provides for exclusivity in any martial art competition where traumatic blows are exchanged. Therefore, UFC fighters are allowed to participate in jiu-jitsu and grappling competitions and not muay thai and boxing. Due to the magnitude of a duel between Conor and Floyd, Dana White has already admitted that he may release him under special circumstances.
