The UFC got tired of waiting for Georges St Pierre. After the Canadian revealed that he will only be able to fight again from November, Dana White, president of the organization, was irritated by the Canadian's delay and canceled the fight between GSP and the champion Michael Bisping. Thus, Yoel romero, number 1 in the middleweight rankings, will be the next challenger for the belt in the 84kg category.

“Georges St-Pierre is saying he won’t be ready to compete until November. Who knows if this is actually the case? It might only be next year... So let's not wait any longer for Georges St-Pierre. Let's move forward with the division, and Yoel romero will receive the next title fight”, declared White, according to a transcript on the American website “MMA Junkie”.

The fight between Bisping and St. Pierre was announced in March, but without a set date or location. The announcement angered other athletes in the division, as the former welterweight champion (up to 77kg) has not fought since November 2013 and has never played at middleweight. Now, Dana changed his speech and made a point of highlighting that Romero deserves the champion's opponent.

“I did this GSP fight, we did a press conference. It was supposed to happen in July. Michael Bisping he will have to defend his title now. We are not going to wait for GSP. Georges St-Pierre was returning. Both Bisping and GSP wanted this fight. We asked Yoel to get out of the way. He did. But it doesn't look like that fight will happen now. (Romero) doesn't need to give his opinion on why he deserves the title shot. He definitely deserves it. He’s next in line, he’s first in the world rankings,” he concluded.
