The idea of attracting Nate diaz Back in the Octagon offering him an interim lightweight title shot doesn't seem like it will work out for the UFC. The company offered him a duel against Tony Ferguson for the provisional belt, but the fighter himself denied that he was interested in cutting weight to face an athlete other than his rival Conor McGregor.

Even though Diaz has relaxed his position, which previously was that he would not fight anyone other than the Irishman, the American set rules for returning to the octagon.
“If you want to take me out of the life I have now, it won't be for a fake title at 70 kg. I told them I would even take a fight at 74,8 pounds. (between light and welterweight), with no belt valid. But I’m not interested in losing a lot of weight for any reason”, commented the fighter, in an interview with the website of the North American broadcaster “ESPN”.
According to Diaz himself, after the initial offer, he made a counter-offer, but the UFC never responded. But the lightweight doesn't seem too concerned about the lack of activity – he hasn't fought since August last year, when he lost to McGregor in a close decision at UFC 202.
“After the counteroffer, they never contacted me again. It's not my problem. They are trying to take me out of my current life. I didn't call them begging for a fight. I even accept fighting, but I told them what it takes to get me back there”, he concluded.
