the bad phase of William Patolino It's a thing of the past. After being fired from the UFC, the TUF Brasil 2 finalist scored two consecutive victories, the most recent last Friday (28), when he defeated Handesson Ferreira in Fight 2 Night 2, and returned to relevance on the national MMA scene. However, anyone who thinks that Rio's focus is on returning to the biggest fight event in the world is mistaken.

“Today it is not something that I look for, that I long for. I'm an MMA employee, I'm an MMA athlete. My job is to train and fight. If the UFC calls me and negotiates a good purse, I'll fight, just like in any event that pays me a good purse. Today Fight 2 Night gives me that, I fight at home, with the fans, all the comfort, all the equipment. If it's up to me to travel abroad to fight, I won't. But if it's a good deal, I'll fight it out. Today I'm no longer sad or focused on returning to the UFC. I understood my career. I'm a father, practically, my son is born in July, a “duckling” is coming (laughs). I need to fight well, work, support my family. I have a son to raise, I can't sit around waiting for the UFC. If it's good for me and the UFC, I'll fight with all my heart, it's the World Cup of fighting, it's where I dreamed of fighting for many years, and I went there and fought with the best. Today I'm here working happily, without pressure, with great joy”, he declared, in an interview with the website 'Combate.com'.

Cut from Ultimate in 2015, Patolino admits he was taken by surprise by his dismissal. The blow was so big that the fighter even thought about abandoning MMA. However, recent good performances have given the athlete new energy.

“After I left the UFC, everything got boring, everything got bad. It was “fire”. It was a big struggle with myself. But today, my psychology got better. I know what I can, I know what I am capable of. I'm as good as many out there. I am a “top” fighter. I can't promise to always win, but always fight hard and do my best. I'm sure that if I arrive prepared, I will emerge victorious from the fight. I am sure of my potential. Winning these two fights well, after everything I've been through, showed how strong and capable I am, it strengthened my mind a lot”, he concluded.
