Having difficulty finding an opponent for his next fight, Anderson Silva gained a new option. Mauritius Shogun, former teammate of 'Spider', made himself available to face his compatriot, but ruled out playing at UFC 212, in Rio de Janeiro, on June 3rd. According to the light heavyweight, two months of training would be necessary for the fight, which would make it impossible for the duel to take place in Brazil.

“I would accept (a fight against Anderson Silva), tied up, but not in Rio de Janeiro. I think UFC Rio is just a few weeks away and I don't have the mental health to enter a camp right now. If they had two months to train, I would accept it, yes. Anderson is a guy that I respect a lot as an athlete, he is a guy that deserves my respect, but yes, I would fight. I'm a professional, above all”, said the native of Curitiba, in an interview with the website 'Tatame'.

However, although he agrees to challenge Anderson, Shogun has another name in his mind: Ovince St Preux, for whom he was already knocked out in just 34 seconds, in November 2014. Interestingly, this was the Brazilian's last defeat.

“I don't have anyone in mind, but I have a narrow defeat against Ovince St-Preux. I think he's a good guy, an icon in the fight, he deserves all my respect. He's big for the category, but I think the way I lost to him made me very sad. I'm not saying I'm better or worse than him, I just felt very sad. So, I would like to have a rematch with St-Preux in the near future, yes”, concluded the Brazilian.
