Michael Bisping e Conor McGregor, UFC middleweight (up to 84kg) and lightweight (up to 70kg) champions, are going through similar moments in the organization, with both being targets of their rivals for not defending their belts more often. However, the Englishman believes that there is a difference in the way the public judges the two cases. According to Michael, Conor is privileged by the organization, while he suffers 'persecution' for his choices.

"Conor McGregor He can do anything, right or wrong, he is Jesus reincarnated. He can walk on water, do whatever he wants, abandon the UFC and book a boxing fight, even so, he will still be the best. Even if it keeps locking two divisions while doing so. As for me, my God, all I've tried to do is get a big payday. And therefore, I am the scum of the earth, I am the devil. The top seven in the rankings call me to fight. Let's be honest, they're all pretty tough, and whichever one I pick, the other six are going to complain. Therefore, you cannot win. I will fight with Georges St-Pierre, so deal with it,” Bisping declared on his official podcast.

Despite becoming the first and only champion of two simultaneous divisions in the UFC, McGregor never held a title defense. After becoming featherweight champion (up to 66kg) by knocking out José Aldo, he had three more fights: two against Nate diaz, both at welterweight (up to 77kg), and one against Eddie Alvarez, when he won the lightweight belt. After his second victory, he announced that he would step away from MMA for a while, and since then there has been no indication that he will return to fighting soon.

Bisping, in turn, reached the top of the middleweight division in June 2016, when he knocked out Luke Rockhold at UFC 199. Since then, he has only played in the victory over Dan Henderson, last October. The Englishman is previously scheduled to face Georges St Pierre, but the fight does not yet have an official date.
