UFC light heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier, is irritated by the delay in confirming his rematch with Jon Jones. Although the two are close to fighting at UFC 214, on July 29th, Ultimate has not yet made the duel official, as it is still evaluating with the former champion whether he will fight another opponent first or come back fighting directly for the world title.

In DC's opinion, there are no “warm-up fights” in the UFC and, therefore, his arch-rival has to fight for the belt straight away. The North American even threatened Jon Jones, saying that, as champion, he has decided that if the two do not face each other at UFC 214, Jones will lose his chance to fight for the title.

“I have the idea that Jon Jones You have to fight me now. There are no warm-up fights in the UFC. If you're the guy who dominated the division, like Jones, why not come back and fight for the title right away? Come fight with me, let's make that money, and put on a show for the fans in Anaheim (where UFC 214 will be). No heating for Jon Jones. He might come and be defeated by me this time. We will fight now or never again. It's my rules, I'm the champion now”, provoked DC, who declared that the agreement between Ultimate and USADA ended with his rival, who was caught in anti-doping last year.

“The fighter we saw against Ovince St Preux is the new Jon Jones, under USADA regulations. He'll always be like this now. Yes, I will beat him on July 29th”, concluded Cormier, referring to “Bones”’s criticized performance against OSP, at UFC 197.

Jon Jones lost his title after getting involved in trouble outside the octagon and being suspended for just over a year. In May 2016, he was scheduled to face Cormier for the belt again, but DC was injured. Jones beat St. Preux by decision and became interim champion, but at UFC 200, when he would finally have a rematch with his rival, “Bones” was found to be anti-doping a few days before the fight and was suspended for a year – his punishment ends weeks ago. before UFC 214.
