In addition to having a shot at the featherweight belt, “KenFlo” also had two opportunities to become lightweight champion. At UFC 64 in 2006, he was dominated by Sean Sherk, who won the then-vacant title. In 2009, at UFC 101, after a six-fight winning streak, he was submitted by B.J. Penn at UFC 101, with a rear naked choke. Shaolin, on the other hand, had less success in MMA, despite being a jiu-jitsu legend. Even so, the Brazilian fought in events such as K-1, Cage Rage and Strikeforce.
