South Korean police are investigating the possibility of manipulating the result of a fight between a local athlete and an American at an event that the UFC held in the country in 2015. Led by the fight between Ben henderson e Jorge masvidal, UFC Seoul took place on November 28 of that year and saw the former lightweight champion's final fight in the promotion. Bendo beat “Gamebred” via unanimous decision.

According to information from the North American website “Bloody Elbow', the South Korean representative had agreed to lose on purpose to win the equivalent of US$88. Furthermore, the athlete would have placed a bet of half that amount on his opponent's victory. In the end, the athlete ended up winning by decision. The investigation began when the fighter, whose name was not officially released by the police, began receiving threats for winning the fight and contacted the authorities, explaining what had happened.

PUBLICITY:

Although the country's publications and the police have kept the fighter's identity secret, the biggest speculation is around the name of Tae Hyun Bang, who faced Leo Kuntz. That's because Bang is the only South Korean to beat an American by decision in that event. Another curiosity gives rise to the duel between Bang and Kuntz being the target of investigations: during the week of the fight, Leo Kuntz was the underdog at the bookmakers, but a few hours before the event, he became the favorite with a margin of four to one, meaning every dollar bet on Kuntz yielded just 20 cents.
