Former UFC heavyweight champion, junior gypsy even had his future as a future title challenger put in doubt after the defeats to Cain Velazquez e alistair overeem. The Brazilian turned things around after a dominant triumph over Ben Rothwell and, at UFC 211 on May 13th, he will have the opportunity to become the belt's owner again, if he passes the current champion Stipe Miocic.

Cigano credits the turnaround in his career to family stability. After getting married last year, the former champion welcomed his first son, Bento. According to the Brazilian, family life has given him the motivation he needed to return to the top of the category.
“I'm feeling very, very different. Things are changing. My dreams, my life goals are changing. Now it's all for my son. It's not just me anymore. I have my wife, my son. Things are different, but that's good, it gives me more motivation to train hard. I am happy. I was already a happy guy, but I'm even happier about everything. I think this is having a positive effect on my training”, said Dos Santos, in an interview with the program “The MMA Hour”.
Not even the fact that he hasn't fought in a year (his victory over Rothwell was in April last year) can take away Cigano's confidence. The Brazilian has been preparing at American Top Team and believes in the team's ability to get the best out of him in training and, especially, at fight time.
"I feel good. I've been training very well here at ATT and I don't think the time without fighting will be a problem for me. I'm more mature now. I understand myself better. Then I can focus all my energy on preparation. I'm going to get there to take the belt from Miocic”, promised the Brazilian.
